Vijay Shankar was rewarded for his bowling performance against Mumbai in Ranji Trophy recently.

It was the day he was waiting for and after yet another hard day's work on the field in Indore, Vijay Shankar received the most important call of his life late evening, from the National selectors.

“I was told earlier in the evening by my association to be ready, but until the official release came I was a bit anxious. I am really excited and it is a long-time dream come true for me to be part of the Indian Test team.”

And that is something he will need if he is part of the playing XI in the next Test after the selectors clearly stated that he was replacing lead bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Speaking about his bowling, Vijay said, “I have been bowling well and have bowled long spells in the Ranji Trophy and the four wickets against Mumbai has given me confidence.”

The all-rounder is in good touch with the bat too after slamming a century against Odisha and is primed to take the big stage if the opportunity presents.
