Asian Airgun championships: Divyansh Singh Parmar bags silver

Divyansh Singh Panwar stretched Wang Yuefeng to the limit, before the Chinese pulled his way to the gold with a junior world record in junior men’s air rifle at the 11th Asian Airgun championships here on Monday.

It was a so-near yet so-far moment for Divyansh Singh Panwar.

Divyansh Singh Panwar stretched Wang Yuefeng to the limit, before the Chinese pulled his way to the gold with a junior world record in junior men’s air rifle at the 11th Asian Airgun championships here on Monday.

Divansh led by 0.9 point before the last four shots, but the Chinese delivered 10.8 twice to take a 0.2 point lead and closed the contest with two 10.7 to win by a 0.9 point margin.

Yuefeng had topped the qualification with 628.8 as compared to 619.2 by Divyansh.

The other Indians, Arjun Babuta and Hriday Hazarika, were placed fifth and sixth respectively. The Indian team took the silver behind China.

In junior women’s air rifle, Elavenil Valarivan took the bronze behind China’s Shi Mengyao and Xu Hong.

Shreya Agrawal and Mehuli Ghosh finished sixth and seventh respectively, but helped the team to the silver behind China.
