Ankita Raina reaches singles semifinals

Ankita Raina couldn't reach the women's doubles semifinals because her partner suffered an injury during the singles match against each other.

It was a day of mixed fortunes for Ankita Raina who made the singles semifinals, but had to give a walkover in doubles, in the $25,000 ITF women’s tennis tournament in Singapore on Friday.

Ankita led 7-5, 2-0 against the second seed and doubles partner Sabina Sharipova of Uzbekistan, when the latter retired owing to an injury.

Thus, Ankita could not partner Sabina for the doubles quarterfinals against the fourth seeds Quirine Lemoine and Arantxa Rus of the Netherlands who went on to make the final.

In the singles semifinals, Ankita will play third seed Conny Perrin of Switzerland.
