Divij Sharan loses final qualifying in Switzerland

Divij Sharan, seeded No.1 with Artem Sitak, was beaten 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 by Santiago Gonzalez and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the final qualifying round.

Divij Sharan, seeded No.1 with Artem Sitak of New Zealand, was beaten 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 by Santiago Gonzalez and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi in the second and final qualifying round of doubles in the ATP-500 tennis tournament in Basel, Switzerland, on Sunday. In the $25,000 ITF men’s Futures in Lagos, Nigeria, Aryan Goveas in partnership with William Bushamuka of the US was beaten in straight sets by Benjamin Lock and Courtney John Lock of Zimbabwe in the doubles final. In the concurrently held, $25,000 ITF women’s event in Lagos, Rutuja Bhosale in partnership with Luara Pigossi of Brazil won the doubles title, beating compatriot Prarthana Thombare and Sandra Samir of Egypt, 10-6 in the super tie-break. It was the second successive doubles title for Rutuja and the third of the season. Riya Bhatia was scheduled to play the singles final against the fourth seeded Nastja Kolar of Slovenia.
