Eugenie Bouchard is into a second consecutive quarter-final after winning through at the Hobart International on Tuesday.

The Canadian overcame Belgian eighth seed Alison Van Uytvanck 6-4 7-5 in the second round to set up a clash against Camila Giorgi at the WTA International event, played on hard-courts.

Bouchard, who endured a difficult 2015, has started the year by reaching the last eight in Shenzhen and now Hobart.

The 2014 Wimbledon runner-up broke serve five times against Van Uytvanck, who is ranked 44th in the world.

The hard-hitting Giorgi was similarly comfortable as the Italian claimed a 6-2 6-3 win over Japan's Nao Hibino.

The second seed advanced in one hour, 11 minutes despite serving five double faults.

Meanwhile, Sweden's Johanna Larsson progressed with a 6-3 3-6 6-3 victory over Russian Margarita Gasparyan.
