Ramkumar Ramanathan loses quarterfinals in Nottingham

Davis Cupper Ramkumar Ramanathan dropped serve once in the match, but lost a marathon 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-7(4) in the quarterfinals of the €127,000 Challenger men, in Nottingham on Friday. Ramkumar, who fired nine aces, but committed 10 double faults in the match, collected 25 ATP points and €3,710.

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan, in partnership with Austin Krajicek of the US, made the doubles final, as second seeds Matt Reid and Adil Shamasdin gave a walkover. In the ATP event in s-Hertogenbosch, Divij Sharan, seeded fourth with Artem Sitak of New Zealand, made the doubles semifinals.

In the doubles quarterfinals of the $100,000 ITF women’s event in Manchester, Prarthana Thombare, in partnership with Luksika Kumkhum of Thailand, survived two match points to win 13-11 in the super tie-break.
