Stuttgart Open: Bopanna and Shapovalov beat Pouille-Tsonga, cruise into semis

The duo of Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov secured a straight sets win over Lucas Pouille and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to reach the semifinal of the Stuttgart Open on Thursday.

Rohan Bopanna and Denis Shapovalov continued their stunning run at the Stuttgart Open to ease to a 6-4, 6-3 triumph over Lucas Pouille and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga on Thursday.

The win comes a day after the duo put up a strong show to stun the third seeded Byran brothers -Mike and Bob- in the pre-quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event. The Bryans, winners of 118 doubles titles, were seeking their first Stuttgart Open title.

The Indian-Canadian duo will next take on the Australian pair of Nick Kyrgios and Matt Reid in the semifinals on Saturday. The Aussies come into the semis after a 6-3, 6-4 win over Jonny O'Mara and Luke Bambridge.

Meanwhile, in the Challenger in France, Sumit Nagal beat Ignatik Uladzimir of Belarus in three sets to make the quarterfinals in a draw of 64. In the Challenger in Nottingham, Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanthan lost their second round singles in contrasting ways. Saketh went down fighting, beaten 6-4, 7-5 by Sebastian Ofner of Austria, while Ramkumar managed to eke out just one game against Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans, losing 6-1,6-0.
