1999: Serena Williams claims the first of her 23 Grand Slam singles titles. Her path to the final featured wins over Kim Clijsters, Conchita Martinez, Monica Seles and defending champion Lindsay Davenport.
In 2002-03, Serena went on to win all four majors at once. This went on to be known as the ‘Serena Slam’.
