Tennis: Prajnesh Gunneswaran in pre-quarterfinals

Davis Cupper Prajnesh Gunneswaran beat qualifier Miliaan Niesten of the Netherlands 6-0, 6-4 in the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in China on Tuesday.

Davis Cupper Prajnesh Gunneswaran warmed up for the tough second round against top seed Mikhail Youzhny of Russia with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over qualifier Miliaan Niesten of the Netherlands in the $75,000 Challenger tennis tournament in China on Tuesday.

The former world No.8, the 35-year-old Youzhny has been competing in the Challengers, winning five of them in the last two seasons, including back to back titles last fortnight to reach a rank of 87. Youzhny had played Sumit Nagal for a tough three-set victory in the first round on way to the title in the Challenger last week in Ho Chi Minh City.
