India qualifies for FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championships

India qualified for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championships 2023 after winning the silver at the Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball  Championship.

India qualified for the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championships after winning a silver at the Asian Men’s U20 Volleyball  Championship, losing 1-3 to Iran in the final in Riffa, Bahrain.

The Indians put on a great fight, but couldn’t match the Iranians succumbing to a lose of 12-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-25 and winning silver medal after a gap of 20 years.

With this win, Iran has seven golds in the tournament, the most golds won by any team. On the other hand, India had previously won two silver having lost once to South Korea and Iran in 1994 and 2002 respectively.

In addition to the medal, Indian captain Dushyant Singh was felicitated with the ‘best blocker’ award, while Karthikeyan was awarded with the ‘best libero’ trophy by the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

Apart from qualifying for the U21 Worlds, the Indian team has also qualified for the U19 World Championships after winning the bronze medal in the Asian Men’s U18 Volleyball Championship.
