Youth Olympics: Wrestling - Banking on Mansi

Mansi Ahlawat, who will compete in 57kg category at the Youth Olympic Games, has won medals in the World junior championship and the Asian junior and cadet championships.

At the Youth Olympic Games (YOG), being held in Buenos Aires, Mansi Ahlawat is a medal contender in wrestling.

Mansi, who hails from Rohtak and trains at the akhara in Rohtak's Chhotu Ram Stadium - made famous by Rio Olympics bronze medallist Sakshi Malik, has done well at the international level. She won silver medals in Asian junior and cadet championships, and a bronze medal at the World junior championship in 2017.

At the YOG, Mansi will compete in 57kg category, in which she is the national champion.

Simran is the other Indian wrestler in action in Buenos Aires and she will compete in the 43kg category.

No male freestyle or Greco Roman wrestler from India has made it to the YOG.
