Purav Raja loses final in Italy Challenger

Purav Raja’s attempt to win a second successive Challenger title with Rameez Junaid of Australia was stopped by Fabricio Neis of Brazil and David Vega Hernandez of Spain who won 6-4, 6-4 in the doubles final of the Challenger in Italy on Friday.

The champion team collected 80 ATP points and €2,670. Purav and Rameez, who had won the title last week in Istanbul had to settle for 48 points and €1,550.

In the $150,000 Challenger in Chinese Taipei, top-seeded Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan in partnership with Austin Krajicek of the US was beaten in the semifinals.

Doubles (semifinals): Yu Hsiou Hsu & Jimmy Wang (TPE) bt Austin Krajicek (US) & Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan 7-6(4), 6-1.

€ 43,000 Challenger men, Biella, Italy

Doubles (final): Fabricio Neis (Bra) & David Vega Hernandez (Esp) bt Rameez Junaid (Aus) & Purav Raja 6-4, 6-4.
