Amjyot Singh drafted in NBA G League

The 25-year old was drafted by Oklahoma City Blue, an affiliate team of NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder.

Amjyot Singh Gill joined the NBA G League in New York as the 103rd pick in the fourth round draft. The 25-year old was drafted by Oklahoma City Blue, an affiliate team of NBA’s Oklahoma City Thunder. The Indian men’s team captain at the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup, Amjyot has been representing India since 2010 and also represented Tokyo Excellence in the National Basketball Development League – Japan in 2015-16 season.

The 6 ft 9 inch forward, who was a member on the Asian All-Star team for 2015 and 2016, Amjyot said: “It’s an awesome feeling to get drafted in the NBA G League! I’m really looking forward to this opportunity with OKC Blue.” Indian origin, Gokul Natesan, was picked by Canton Charge as ithe 97th pick. It is a development team of Cleveland Cavaliers. Natesan who comes from the Colorado School of Mines was the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Scholar (Male Athlete) in 2016-17 season.

The NBA G League will kick off its 2017-18 season on November 3, featuring 26 teams. This will be the 17th season of the competition, including four clubs owned by NBA franchises: the Agua Caliente Clippers of Ontario (LA Clippers), Erie BayHawks (Atlanta Hawks), Memphis Hustle (Memphis Grizzlies) and Wisconsin Herd (Milwaukee Bucks). Each team will play a 50-game schedule that concludes in March next year.
