Palpreet picked by Long Island Nets in NBA D-League draft

Long Island Nets acquired the draft rights of five players on Sunday night, and among them was center Palpreet.

Palpreet Singh was the 11th pick in the fourth round.

Palpreet Singh Brar of Ludhiana Basketball Academy, who was being monitored by NBA India for the last two years, has been picked up by Long Island Nets — affliated to Brooklyn Nets — in the D-League draft.

Long Island Nets acquired the draft rights of five players on Sunday night, and among them was center Palpreet, who was the 11th pick in the fourth round.

Earlier, NBA India's senior director, Carlos Barroca, said that the 21-year-old athlete was a strong contender to be selected. “I’d say he’s somewhere in the middle of that 80. Everyone loved him during the trials,” he said.

The NBA D-League, which was earlier known as NBA Development League, consists of 22 teams, with the sides either single-affliated or owned by a NBA team. The Long Island Nets, founded in 2015 and are owned by Brooklyn Nets.

However, Indian captain Amritpal Singh and his team-mate Amyjot Singh were not picked by any team.
