UBA: Punjab and Bengaluru enter semifinals

Punjab and Bengaluru join Mumbai Challengers and Pune Peshwas, who had already qualified for the last four.

Punjab Steelers and Bengaluru Beast became the second set of teams to reach the semifinals of the UBA Pro men’s basketball league held at Sathyabama University here on Wednesday.

Punjab and Bengaluru join Mumbai Challengers and Pune Peshwas, who had already qualified for the last four.

In two exciting ‘play-in’ matches, Punjab overcame Delhi Capitals 102-92 while Bengaluru Beast edged out Hyderabad Sky 116-113. The semifinals and final, which the UBA likes to call the Championship Series, will be held at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Bambolim, in Goa from March 10 to 16.

Bengaluru Beast 116 (Vishesh Bhriguvanshi 57, Palpreet Brar 27, Chris Solomon 17) bt Hyderabad Sky 113 (Tevin Kelly 40, Mahipal Singh 16, Mak Boskailo 16, Mahesh Padmanabhan 11, Joginder Singh 12, Aagosh Sharma 12).
