Aditya Verma: ‘Fight not against Srinivasan’

Cricket Association of Bihar secretary Aditya Verma, who started a legal battle against BCCI recognition for JSCA and who is a petitioner in the IPL spot-fixing and betting case, in a statement here on Monday stated his fight was not against ex-BCCI president N. Srinivasan. He said this was an “unwarranted” perception.
He said his fight was for the “cause of cricket and revival of cricket in the State of Bihar.”
According to the note, after Bihar was bifurcated for the formation of Jharkhand in 2000, the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) was dissolved in 2001 and a new BCA and CAB were formed.
He said Amitabh Choudhary had changed the name of BCA to JSCA (Jharkhand State Cricket Association) with the support of BCCI office-bearers in 2003.
“The 1975-76 Ranji Trophy finalists suddenly became non-existent. I started a legal fight against JSCA and BCCI for the sake of young cricketers from Bihar. I met all BCCI presidents from 2006-13 but nobody supported me,” he said.
“The second chapter of my legal fight started in the Bombay High Court after the IPL scandal. The entire scenario changed after the court order in July, 2013. Shri N. Srinivasan’s downfall began after that.
“I want to say again that my fight was not against him or any individual in the BCCI, but for the revival of Bihar cricket,” he added.
