England pacer James Anderson became the first player in Test history to feature in 100 Test matches at home during the second Test against South Africa at Old Trafford in Manchester on Thursday.

Sachin Tendulkar (94 matches) has played the second-most number of Tests at home, while former Australia captain Ricky Ponting is third on the list with 92 matches at home. Stuart Broad (91) and Alaistair Cook (89) round off the top five.

Forty-year-old Anderson has played a total of 174 Tests, the second most after Tendulkar’s tally of 200. Cook (161) and Broad (158) are the only other English players to feature in more than 150 Tests.

Anderson celebrated his historic Test in style, picking the wicket of Sarel Erwee in the fifth over of the first day. He then trapped Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj in front off consecutive balls in the 31st over to leave South Africa reeling.
