BCCI submits names of retired judges to host IPL ties in Hyderabad

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday had submitted names of two retired judges who could be requested to function as administrators to facilitate smooth conduct of Indian Premier League (IPL) matches at Hyderabad. The names were given in an envelope to the bench of the High Court.

A division bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice Shameem Akther reserved orders in the miscellaneous petition filed by BCCI to appoint administrator or observer to oversee the functioning of HCA for the forth coming IPL matches.

The bench was dealing with a PIL writ petition filed by Govind Reddy, an advocate and cricketer. He had sought intervention of the court to see that the administration of the HCA is streamlined in line with the recommendations of the Justice Lodha Committee. The BCCI filed the miscellaneous petition in this case requesting the court to appoint the observer or administrator. It mentioned the present status of affairs in HCA. The bench heard all the parties at length and reserved this petition for orders.
