Vijay Hazare Trophy: Three wins in a row for Chandigarh
Barinder Sran and Bipul Sharma shine in Chandigarh’s 21-run win over Assam.

Left-arm fast bowler Barinder Sran and left-arm spinner Bipul Sharma took three wickets each to help Chandigarh record its third consecutive win in the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Friday — a 21-run defeat of Assam.
With this win, Chandigarh has moved to the top of the Plate Group points table. It has 12 points from four matches.
Choosing to bat after tain curtailed the match to 20-overs-a-side contest, Chandigarh posted 166 for 7. Preet Kamal was its top-scorer with a 25-ball 34 (3x4, 1x6), but it was the No. 9 batsman Jaskarandeep Singh, who provided a late impetus with an unbeaten, 14-ball 28 (2x4s, 2x6s).
For Assam, Pritam Das took 3 for 26.
In reply, Assam was bundled out for 145 in 19.5 overs. Bipul Sharma (3 for 14) and Sran (3 for 25) were the chief wicket-takers.
The other two Plate Group matches here — Puducherry vs Nagaland, and Uttarakhand vs Mizoram — were abandoned due to rain.
- At Kasiga College Ground: Chandigarh 166 for 7 in 20 overs (Preet Kamal 34, Pritam Das 3 for 26, Arup Das 2 for 22) beat Assam 145 all out in 19.5 overs (Sarupam Purkayastha 32, Barinder Singh 3 for 25, Bipul Sharma 3 for 14, Shreshth Nirmohi 2 for 28). Chandigarh won by 21 runs. Points - Chandigarh: 4, Assam: 0.
