05:00 pm: Hanuma Vihari once again came to the rescue with a poised 76 to help India B recover and post a decent total of 231/9. India C in reply kept losing wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 201 in 48.2 overs. Spinner Krishnappa Goutham and part-timer Manoj Tiwary turned the match in India B's favour as they shared six wickets among themselves.

4:40 pm: WICKET! Jaydev Unadkat strikes to remove Navdeep Saini as India C loses its ninth wicket. India B favourites to win from here. India C needs 31 runs in 12 balls with one wicket in hand.
4:30: Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini are trying their best by keeping the India B bowlers at bay. India C requires 36 runs in 24 balls.

Abhishek reports: Manoj Tiwary and Shreyas Iyer may not have dazzled with the bat, but try to make up for it with their bowling exploits. First, Vijay Shankar was dismissed leg-before-wicket by a ball that skidded on and thudded onto his pads. It was a decisive scalp and Iyer's first wicket. Tiwary, bowing his offspinners, took the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav. With the required run-rate rising to above six per over, Yadav, batting on 39, tried to hoist Tiwary over midwicket but doesn't time his hit and is caught in the deep. Between these dismissals was another one - Ishan Kishan edged Gowtham behind to become the bowler's third wicket. The innings seems to be unravelling now. 70 needed off 10 overs with three wickets in hand. The batsmen in the middle - Washington Sundar and Rajneesh Gurbani. |

3:48 pm: Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav hold the key as India C requires 83 runs in 84 balls. Should be an interesting chase if the duo hang in.
3:30 pm: Part-timer Shreyas Iyer picks up a wicket as he traps Vijay Shankar to leave India C five down. Shankar departs for a 34-ball 35. India C 135/5 in 32.1 overs.
3:20 pm: Vijay Shankar and Suryakumar Yadav have managed to stitch a partnership after India C suffered a mini collapse. India C 133/4 in 31.1 overs.

Abhishek reports: Offspinner K. Gowtham has scripted a turnaround for India B by dismissing the big fish - Ajinkya Rahane - and then taking another key wicket, that of Suresh Raina. Both seemed tame dismissals, but both batsmen are likely to have been compelled to make those fatal errors that cost them their wickets. Rahane was caught by the short cover fielder off a delicate prod, while Raina attempted a slog sweep to oblivion and was bowled. To add to India C's woes, part-time spinner Manoj Tiwary accounted for the set Shubman Gill, who chipped a low fulltoss on the off-side to the cover fielder. An uphill task awaits Suryakumar Yadav and Vijay Shankar. However, the target is still well within grasp. |
2:56 pm: WICKET! Manoj Tiwary picks up a wicket against the run of play and he gets the prized scalp of Shubman Gill. India C struggling at 87/4 at the end of 25 overs with another 145 runs to win.
2:41 pm: WICKET! Krishnappa Gowtham picks his second wicket as Suresh Raina departs. Raina charges down the track, goes for a wild swing but misses it completely as the ball sneaks under his bat to castle the stumps. Poor shot selection. India C in a spot of bother having lost its third wicket. India C 74/3 in 21.1 overs.
2:32 pm: WICKET! Krishnappa Gowtham breaks the stand as he gets India C skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Rahane did all the hard work but plays a rather uncharacteristic shot as he hits straight into the hands of Manoj Tiwary at covers. India C 65/2 at the end of 19 overs.

Abhishek reports: Except an accurate bouncer that resulted in the only wicket to have fallen so far, India C's top-order batsmen have looked calm and settled at the crease in their chase of 232. Ajinkya Rahane struck three boundaries via trademark, serene strokes, all through the off-side. Among the rare belligerent strokes in this early period were two boundaries struck by Shubman Gill. It's drinks time. |

1.40 pm: Rahane and Samarth are taking it slow and playing sensible cricket. There is absolutely no need to hurry and worry as the target is very much achievable if wickets don't tumble. This is a good testing ground for Rahane as a limited-overs player.

Abhishek reports: India B has struggled its way to 231/9 in its 50 overs, No. 11 Shahbaz Nadeem hitting a six through midwicket to finish off the innings in style. It's been a stop-start innings by the team; regular and frequent fall of wickets put paid to any hopes of mounting a huge total. The rot continued through the business end. K. Gowtham seemed to have taken a liking to Roy, hitting him for two sixes, but fell trying to hoist another. Roy had smartly drawn him outside the crease and wide, and Gowtham could only provide a catch the running long-off fielder. Soon after, lower-order batsman Deepak Chahar was trapped lbw by Vijay Shankar, and the set Vihari was caught behind off a slower ball from Gurbani, who finished with three wickets. |

Considering India B's delicate situation, the two batsmen were content to pick gaps and collect singles off the offspinners in operation - Washington Sundar and Raina. With Bains' wicket, the onus is once again on Vihari to shepherd the tail. To bat out the 50 overs will be an uphill task for the team. It's 159/6 in 36 overs. |

Abhishek reports: A pall of smoke hangs over the playing arena, perhaps symbolising India B's iffy predicament. The team is five down now, thanks to left-arm spinner Roy's near-perfect delivery that dislodged Manoj Tiwary, who had been collecting big hits off the bowler until then, and K. Rohit Rayudu's soft dismissal soon after. Tiwary seemed to have targetted Roy, collecting a four and a six - the only ones he hit in his innings - off Roy, one a stylish flick to the midwicket boundary and the other an inside-out lofted stroke through long-off. In the 19th over, he was bamboozled by an accurate, spinning delivery; it pitched on length on middle, and turned just enough to beat the batsman's defences and dislodge the bails. Seamer Vijay Shankar removed Rayudu in the next over. Rayudu softly hung out his bat and got a thin edge to the wicketkeeper. Vihari and Ankush Bains at the crease. It's 112/5 in 26 overs. |

Through sheer pace, Rajneesh Gurbani has pegged India B back in the second Deodhar Trophy contest at the Ferozeshah Kotla here. Openers Prashant Chopra and Mayank Agarwal began their innings brightly, stroking a few sweetly-timed boundaries between them. But it was a false dawn; first, Gurbani got a quick delivery to angle into Chopra, the ball crashing on to the stumps after ricocheting off the pads, and soon after, he got Agarwal to play a mistimed drive that looped for a catch for the cover fielder. Left-arm spinner Pappu Roy joined the party, dismissing Shreyas Iyer caught behind. India B 58/3 in the 14th over.
