Mumbai secured its first win of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy season, defeating Maharashtra by nine wickets at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Stadium in Mumbai on Monday.

Prithvi Shaw and Hardik Tamore wrapped up the match in the morning session of Day 4, as Mumbai chased down a modest target of 74 runs.

The victory was set up on the opening day, when Mumbai bowled out Maharashtra for just 126 inside the first session.

In response, 17-year-old opener Ayush Mhatre scored a brilliant century to lay the foundation, before Shreyas Iyer added another ton, helping Mumbai establish a commanding 315-run lead.

Maharashtra fought back in the second innings, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad leading the charge with a fiery century. However, it was a case of too little too late.
