Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: Much to the relief of Kerala, Gujarat’s marathon sixth wicket stand has finally come to an end. Karan Patel (120, 166b, 18x4) was caught behind off M.D. Nidheesh, who thus picked up his fourth wicket. But Het Patel is still there, batting on 145 (200b, 22x4, 1x6). The sixth wicket partnership was worth 234. Gujarat 328 for six. The new man, Roosh Kalaria, is on four.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Opener Amogh Desai's unbeaten fifty caps off a perfect day for Goa. They finish the day at 114/2, having bundled Mumbai out for 163. See you tomorrow

Andhra vs Services | M.R. Praveen Chandran: Ricky Bhui completes a patient hundred (108  batting)and Andhra end the day at 277/3. The fourth wicket pair has added 158 runs with Karan Shinde giving solid support with an unbeaten 77.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: STUMPS at Guru Nanak. Pondicherry finishes at 284/5 with Paras Dogra 107* (168b, 10×4 1×6), Sagar Udeshi 17* (27b, 3×4) remaining unbeaten on Day 1.

Tamil Nadu vs Chhattisgarh | S. Dipak Ragav: At stumps on day 1, TN 308/4 in 86 overs. Centuries from Baba brothers have put them in a strong position.

Saurashtra vs Odisha | Chirag Jani has brought up his 100 and is going strong. Arpit Vasavada, meanwhile, has reached his fifty off just 60 balls. The partnership between the two is 100-plus. Saurashtra 323/4.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Paras Dogra brings up his 30th first-class century off 154 balls (9 fours, 1 six) with a four down to long-on! He raises his arms in delight after what has been another flawless innings for his side.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Dhawal Kulkarni is back. He changes the angle to around the wicket and is rewarded as Suyash Prabhudessai is adjudged lbw. But Goa are on a boundary-hitting spree, closing in on 100.

Saurashtra vs Odisha | Chirag Jani is nearing his hundred. Arpit Vasavada, meanwhile, has struck fours and a six to reach 31 off 49. The partnership between Jani and Vasavada is nearing 100 as well. Saurashtra 293/4.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Pondicherry are five down now. Amit Mishra returns to the attack and sends the stumps on a cartwheel as Karthik departs. PDY 222/5 in 74.4 overs

Mumbai vs Goa | Goa eating away at the deficit in quick time. Despite losing an early wicket, Amogh Desai and Suyash S Prabhudessai have been positive.  Prabhudessai is on 37 off 33. Goa 75/1 in 19 overs.

Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: Het Patel has completed a fine hundred, which has helped Gujarat recover from a poor start to its innings after being put in. Playing only his second First Class match, he reached his maiden hundred in 146 balls. He is 101 not out (147b, 16x4, 1x6), Karan Patel on 66 not out (113b, 11x4) and Gujarat 226 for five.

Bengal vs Hyderabad | Y. B. Sarangi: Bengal 242 all out in 70.2 overs, Abishek Porel top scored with a breezy 73 off just 62 balls. It was his second successive half century. He put up 74 runs with Shahbaz (40) and 38 with Akash Deep (13). Left arm spinner Tanay Thyagarajan was the top wicket taker for Hyderabad with his figures of five for 71. Ravi Teja took three, including Abhishek who has played on.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Rohit has finally run out of luck! He slashes a loose delivery straight to point as Rahul Sharma picks his third wicket on debut. A brief halt in play as Rohit is engaged in a brief exchange of words with the Railways bowlers. Pondicherry 202/4 in 70.4 overs.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Mulani is managing to extract considerable turn off the surface. But Suyash Prabhudesai has raced to 25 off 13, with six fours. If he and Amogh Desai can keep going for another hour, Goa can start dreaming of its biggest win so far

Karnataka vs J&K | S Dinakar: Karnataka was 205 for six soon after Tea with B .R. Sharath trapped leg before by J&K seamer Aquib Nabi, and, Shreyas Gopal stumped off offie Parvez Rasool. Karun was batting on 115.

Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: Gujarat is staging a splendid fightback. And it has to thank Het Patel and Karan Patel for that. They have added 105 for their unfinished sixth wicket. Het, playing only his second First Class match, is not out on a career-best 80 (135b, 12x4, 1x6) and Karan on 56 (96b, 9x4). They have just returned to the dressing room for tea to loud cheers from their teammates. Gujarat 195 for five at tea.

Saurashtra vs Odisha | Second time in as many matches, Sheldon Jackson misses a ton. He falls for 75, having put on 130 runs with Chirag Jani for the fourth wicket. Saurashtra 214/4, Arpit Vasavada joins Jani.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Mumbai give the new ball to Dhawal and Shams Mulani. The left-arm spin ploy almost works but Sumiran Amonkar survives a loud caught-behind appeal. Dhawal makes way for Mohit Avasthi after bowling 4 ovs and Avasthi strikes off his first ball. Goa 29/1

Andhra vs Services | Andhra nearing 200. Captain Ricky Bhui is unbeaten on 68. He along with Karan Shide has added 73 runs for fourth wicket.

START OF FINAL SESSION

Tamil Nadu 211-2 vs Chhattisgarh

Himachal Pradesh 226-4 vs Tripura

Assam 206-6 vs UP

Gujarat 195-5 vs Kerala

Tamil Nadu vs Chhattisgarh | S. Dipak Ragav: B. Indrajith is having a great season with the bat so far. He was in good form in Vijay Hazare and then got picked for the first time in IPL by KKR. He got a beautiful hundred against Delhi under tough circumstances.

Things bit different here against Chhattisgarh but he has continued from where he left off. He is one of the best players of spin in domestic cricket across the country and has been at ease playing them. He has flicked spinners, late cut them and driven them with authority. The medium-pacers tried to bowl wide and he has been more than happy to drive them through covers.

A quick 100 off just 106 balls with 19 boundaries shows how easy it has been for him. At the other end, B. Aparajith has been happy to let his twin have all the fun but slowly he too has got a crucial half-century. The duo has added 152 so far.

They have laid a beautiful platform for TN to bat big and bat once on this wicket.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Pondy 187/3 in 63 overs, Tea. Dogra (61* off 99b) and Rohit (36* off 88b) have rebuilt the innings in style after Pondicherry lost three wickets within nine overs. Dogra's measured knock has blunted the bowlers and he moved into the break after smashing left-arm spinner Akash for a massive six over long on.

Andhra vs Services | M.R. Praveen Chandran: At Tea, Andhra 185/3. Captain Ricky Bhui has led the recovery with an unbeaten 66. He along with Karan Shide have added 66 runs for fourth wicket. Girinath's was the only wicket to fall in the post lunch session. Girinath was caught and bowled by Poonia for 53

Saurashtra vs Odisha | Sheldon Jackson has clicked up a gear after reaching his fifty in the company of Chirag Jani, who has struck a half-century as well. These two are now putting the Odisha attack under the pump.. Saurashtra are 211/3, Jackson on 75 and Jani on 62.

Karnataka vs J&K | S Dinakar: Karun Nair reached the three-figure mark as Karnataka was 183 for four close to Tea on day one against J & K in Chennai on Thursday. Karun Nair was batting on 102 after Umran Malik, in a hostile post-lunch spell,  fired out K. Siddharth and skipper Manish Pandey for 16 and 1 respectively.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: 163 all out. Goa's first ever outing against Mumbai in FC cricket has turned out to be memorable. Garg six and Amit Yadav four wickets. Can Mumbai turn the tables around post tea?

Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: Wicketkeeper Het Patel is leading Gujarat’s fightback with an unbeaten 53 (98b, 5x4). His team is not out of the woods though at 145 for five. He has so far added 42 for the unfinished sixth wicket with Karan Patel (33 not out). They came together after Umang Kumar, on debut, was dismissed for 24, slashing at M.D. Nidheesh, only to be caught behind. That was the third wicket for the pacer, who is coming back to the Kerala team after missing the match against Meghalaya.

Bengal vs Hyderabad | Y. B. Sarangi: Tea at Cuttack: Bengal 166/6 in 57 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed (25) and Abhishek Porel (26) formed an unbroken partnership of 50 runs in an attempt to rescue Bengal, which lost three wickets in five overs in the post lunch session. Tanay Thyagarajan, B. Punnaiah and Ravi Teja have claimed two wickets apiece for Hyderabad.

Andhra vs Services | Girinath and Bhui put on a 70-run stand for the third wicket. Girinath's dismissal brought Karan Shinde to the crease. He has added 30 for the fourth wicket with Bhui. Andhra are 151/3.

Gujarat vs Kerala | A recovery of sorts from Gujarat, led by Het Patel's fifty. He has Karan Patel for company, who is unbeaten on 20 off 40. Gujarat are 130/5.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Pondy at Drinks. Dogra continues to pierce the gaps for the odd single, taking his tally to 37 while captain Rohit (10 off 41) has endured a torrid hour at the crease. Meanwhile, a visitor empties a drinks bottle kept for the deep mid-wicket fielder!

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Garg gets five. Sarfaraz's attempted scoop results in a possible faint edge on to his helmet and Kerkar takes a diving catch. Sarfaraz almost breaks his bat, smashing it thrice on the steps of the staircase towards the dressing room. And five becomes six for Garg. He has been having some day, finding Dhawal Kulkarni plumb in front of the wickets. 123/8, Mumbai in a soup, Goa on top.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: A regulation catch goes down at first slip as Shivam Chaudhary drops Rohit on 3 off Mishra - his fourth escape in the space of 26 balls.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Mumbai in trouble. Aditya Tare is caught at mid-off off Garg. In the next over, Shams Mulani is enticed into a drive by offie Yadav for Kerkar to pouch the edge. 113/6, with Tanush Kotian joining Sarfaraz, who went past 50 with an inside-edged four.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Rohit finally opens his account with a single off 22nd delivery against Karn, after three close chances for the opposition so far. Earlier in the over, Rohit nearly chipped one back straight to the bowler off a loopy tossed-up delivery.

Saurashtra vs Odisha | Sheldon Jackson and Chirag Jani have revived Saurashtra with a stodgy stand. Jani had batted at 8 against Mumbai but walked out at 3 today. Saurashtra 121/3 in 38 overs.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Sachin Yadav is disappointed after having been adjudged leg-before. That's the second dicey lbw decision. Rahane was earlier given out offering no shot when the ball may have bounced too high.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Massive reprieve for the Pondy skipper Rohit D who has just walked in. He slices his second ball off Sharma  straight to the point fielder but the umpire has called a no-ball for overstepping. Rahul follows it up with another sharp, incoming delivery that crashes into Rohit's pads but it is deemed to be missing leg.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Second session begins. Deshpande and Dogra back in the middle. Railways skipper Karn Sharma is up for his first spell. A sensational start from the far end for Rahul Sharma. He gets his second wicket as Pavan Deshpande gloves a seething bouncer straight to the keeper. Sharma had troubled him initially with a sharp incoming delivery that nearly jagged back to the stumps off the inside-edge.

Tamil Nadu vs Chhattisgarh | S. Dipak Ragav: Tamil Nadu won a crucial toss on a pitch that is expected to assist spinners as the match goes on. After a watchful few overs, opener Kaushik Gandhi went after left-arm spinner Sumit Ruikar hitting him for two sixes and as many fours. Unfortunately, a mix up with fellow opener L. Suryapprakash resulted in Kaushik’s run out at the non-striker’s end. A good direct hit from mid-on by the substitute fielder. In the first over after lunch, left-arm spinner Ajay Mandal, who was the man of the match in the last game, struck, getting Suryapprakash caught at first slip. There is some turn after lunch for the bowlers here and TN will relish these conditions, it is similar to what they are used to playing back in Chennai in the First Division circuit. The Baba twins, Aparajith and Indrajith, are now in, and TN will hope to get good first innings total around 300-350 which could be enough.  Crucial two-and-half-hour session underway.

START OF SECOND SESSION

While we await to see how the second session on Day 1 pans out, here are our correspondents Amol Karhadkar and Ayan Acharya recapping the Ranji Trophy Round 1 contests, what they are looking forward to in Round 2, the Wriddhiman Saha saga and India's form heading into the 50-over Women's World Cup in New Zealand.

LUNCH BREAK UPDATES

Bengal 72-3 vs Hyderabad

Chandigarh 94-4 vs Baroda

Jharkhand 133-5 vs Delhi

Tamil Nadu 57-1 vs Chhattisgarh

Bihar 107-2 vs Sikkim

Arunachal Pradesh 136-5 vs Nagaland

Manipur 131-4 vs Mizoram

Pondicherry 87-2 vs Railways

Saurashtra 99-3 vs Odisha

Gujarat 99-4 vs Kerala

Uttarakhand 87-4 vs Rajasthan

Andhra 99-2 vs Services

Punjab 118-3 vs Haryana

Himachal Pradesh 104-2 vs Tripura

Mumbai 91-3 vs Goa

Karnataka 117-2 vs J&K

Vidarbha 109-2 vs Maharashtra

Assam 99-2 vs Uttar Pradesh

Meghalaya 55-7 vs Madhya Pradesh

Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: Gujarat is 77 for four at lunch. It has been very much Kerala’s morning after choosing to bowl on a green wicket. The seamers have taken all the four wickets – two for M.D. Nidheesh and one apiece for Edhen Apple Tom and Basil Thampi. Wicketkeeper Het Patel is not out on 27 and Umang Kumar on 17. They have added 44 for the fourth wicket. But they need to do more.

Andhra vs Services | M.R. Praveen Chandran: Lunch at St.Xavier's College ground, Andhra 99/2 in 34 overs. Opener Girinath batting 43 and skipper Ricky Bhui batting 21. They have added 50 runs for the third wicket after Rasheed was caught in the slips by Paliwal off Poonia for 23.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Pondy 87/2 in 32 overs, LUNCH: Deshpande survives a lbw shout off Yuvraj before a delightful punch through covers for four, the last ball before Lunch. The openers have done their bit, seeing off probing spells from the seamers on a fresh, hard wicket. Upto to the middle-order to cash in.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: For the first time today, Rahul comes from around the wicket to the right-hander. A brief ploy in place here, for Dogra. Rahul tucks one in sharply to Dogra with a short mid-wicket in place. Dogra attempts to flick, and the ball lands just short of the fielder. Dogra comes up with the perfect response as he crunches the next ball for four through extra cover. Interesting little passage of play ahead of Lunch.

Karnataka vs J&K | S Dinakar: Karnataka, wining the toss, was 108 for two against J & K. Karun Nair was batting on 53 while R. Samanth was dismissed by Abdul Samad for 45 at Chennai's IIT-Chemplast ground on day one on Thursday.  Earlier Devdutt Padikkal was caught at slip off Mujtaba Yousaf for 8.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: The debutant left-arm pacer Rahul Sharma strikes. Aravind edges to second slip as the ball springs up from length to freeze his arms away from the body, once again. He departs for 23 after a stoic stand for nearly two hours. In walks the in-form veteran, Paras Dogra.

Saurashtra vs Odisha | After a solid start by openers Harvik Desai and Snell Patel, Saurashtra have lost three quick wickets including that of Cheteshwar Pujara. Debabrata Pradhan, Basant Mohanty, Jayanta Behera with a wicket each. Saurashtra are 85/3 in 27 overs.

Bengal vs Hyderabad | Y. B. Sarangi: Lunch: Bengal 72/3 in 30 overs , Sayan Sekhar Mandal batting 22, Anustup Majumdar batting 1. Sayan and Ritwik Roy Chowdhury put on 47 runs for the third wicket. Ritwik got out minutes before the lunch. Stepped out to play Tanay Thyagarajan to mid on.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Yuvraj gets the breakthrough. A deserving wicket for his hard grind since morning. After a near flawless stroll to 49, Neyan nicks one away from his body to second slip and misses out on a maiden first-class fifty. Pondicherry 65/1 in 25.1 overs. Pavan Deshpande has walked in at 3.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Yuvraj returns for another spell, replacing Amit Mishra. He continues to pump in sharp bouncers to Aravind and sets him up with a quicker delivery on the full outside off. Aravind hangs his bat away from his feet and the leading-edge lobs over the point fielder for four.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Pitch is playing true for now. Mumbai's team selection and decision to bat indicates it's expected to turn. Amit Yadav, the offie, was brought on in the 10th over. Sarfaraz's first boundary is off the 36th ball he faces. But the fact that it's an upper cut off Shreekant Wagh indicates that these are ominous signs for Goa. Mumbai 47/3

Gujarat vs Kerala |P.K. Ajith Kumar: For a change, Edhen Apple Tom didn’t take a wicket with his first ball in a First-Class inning (as he has done on both occasions thus far in his career), but the dream continues for the 17-year-old. He has taken a wicket in his second over, with a ball that bounced and made opener Saurav Chouhan glove it to the second slip. Saurav had been looking good though during his maiden First-Class innings (25, 32b, 5x4), timing his shots sweetly. Gujarat then lost another wicket off the very next ball, with Basil Thampi, coming into the attack for this first time, trapping Manprit Junjeja lbw for three. Gujarat is in considerable trouble at 34 for four. Het Patel is yet to score, and Umang Kumar is on two.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Fifty up for the openers in 18 overs. Neyan and Aravind have begun in contrasting styles to negate the three seamers - Amit, Rahul and Yuvraj - who have been rotated in multiple spells. First sight of spin, as left-armer Akash Pandey enters the attack.

Gujarat vs Kerala | Kerala are all over Gujarat at the moment. Nidheesh and Edhen have carved out the top order; the latter removing S D Chauhan for 25 to leave the opposition reeling at 33/3 in 10 overs.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Lakshay Garg seems to have hurt his ankle in his follow-through. After rolling the Mumbai top-order on the mat, the Goa pacer tumbles in his follow through. At the drinks break, Mumbai 37/3.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: Lakshay Garg is on a roll. Has gotten rid of Shaw, Aakarshit Gomel and Rahane - the last two in the same over - in the first spell. Mumbai in a spot of bother. 30/3

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Former Kerala all-rounder and Pondicherry selector Raiphi Vincent Gomez is among the few people who have walked in to view the first hour's play. He has his eyes on young Neyan who has gotten off to a confident start with 26 runs off 31 balls, including six fours.

Gujarat vs Kerala | P.K. Ajith Kumar: Good morning from rather a cold, foggy Rajkot. The match began half an hour late because of the fog. Kerala has won the toss and has chosen to bowl. And M.D. Nidheesh, one of the two changes, has justified that decision by taking a wicket with the fourth ball of the innings: he had Kathan Patel caught at slip. Batter Salman Nizar is the other change in the Kerala eleven. The two players omitted are S. Sreesanth and Manu Krishnan. So Kerala has decided to lengthen its batting line-up at the expense of a pacer. Gujarat has brought in Saurav Chouhan in place of captain Priyank Panchal, who has been included in the Indian Test team. He has begun well on his First-Class debut. He is 12 not out off five balls. Gujarat 12 for one, with captain Bhargav Merai yet to open his account.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Left-arm seamer Rahul Sharma comes in as first change. Replaces Amit Mishra. He finds the outside-edge off Neyan first ball who slashes hard at a wide delivery outside the off-stump. The ball flies over a diving gully fielder for four.

Andhra vs Services | M.R. Praveen Chandran: Andhra 22/1 after electing to bat. Opener Gnaneshwar bowled by Pathania for a duck in the first over. Three changes in the Andhra squad. Under-19 World Cupper Shaik Rasheed (9) and Girinath at the crease.

Bengal vs Hyderabad | Y. B. Sarangi: After one hour's play on day one, Bengal's at 24/2, losing both its openers. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran was bowled by Ravi Teja in the second over for a duck. Sudip Gharami (14) was caught behind off first change bowler Punnaiah's second over. Good purchase for Hyderabad seamers from the surface early in the morning at the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: After being beaten consistently in the first couple of overs, Negan gets off the blocks with a wristy push through mid-wicket for four. Mishra offers another fuller delivery which the 18-year-old carves through backward point for another four. Impressive start for Yuvraj Singh from the opposite end. He continues to hit the deck hard and rush the batter (Aravind) onto the backfoot. Continues his spell with two maidens on the trot.

Yuvraj bowling to Aravind in the Railways vs Pondicherry Ranji encounter.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar: 4th over. Lakshay Garg forces a nick off Prithvi Shaw's blade and Darshan Misal pouches it at second slip. 11/1

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas: Pondicherry have backed openers Neyan Kangayan and Aravind K who had forgetful first-class debuts in the first round. While Neyan registered scores of 16 and 7, Aravind fell for 26 and 8 in two innings. Meanwhile, Railways, who had a fine outing against Karnataka at the same venue, will aim to expose the top-order that has looked timid barring Paras Dogra. Seamer Yuvraj Singh who registered a five-for against Karnataka on debut will be one to watch out for. Neyan and Aravind open the batting for Pondy. Seamer Amit Mishra with the new ball for Railways.

Bengal vs Hyderabad | Bengal have lost skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran for a four-ball duck, Ravi Teja with the breakthrough.

Mumbai vs Goa | Amol Karhadkar - Mumbai won the toss, elected to bat. Prashant Solanki makes his debut, replaces Siddharth Raut.

Railways vs Puducherry | Lalith Kalidas chimes in: Railways has won the toss, elects to field against Pondicherry. Two changes for Railways: Rahul, Akash in; Himanshu Sangwan, Avinash Yadav out. Meanwhile, just as many changes for Puducherry as well: Two changes: Sidak, Subodh in; Ashith, Vijay R out

Players limbering up ahead of the first day's play.

Tamil Nadu vs Chhattisgarh | S. Dipak Ragav from Guwahati: The toss for TN vs Chhattisgarh game has been delayed. the pitch is wet and there is shortly going to be an inspection after which we will know when the toss could happen.
