Our correspondent Ashwin Achal reports

Vidarbha do well to reach 95 for two at Lunch. Karnataka pacers Vinay Kumar, A. Mithun, S. Arvind and Stuart Binny test the Vidarbha batsmen with discipline and big movement off the Eden Gardens pitch. Karnataka let down by poor slip catching once again. Three chances missed —

Mayank Agarwal and S. Arvind drop one catch each, while Mayank and R. Samarth (second and third slip respectively) allow one chance to bisect them.

Old warhorse Wasim Jaffer 30 batting (61b) looks fairly comfortable, shouldering arms to anything even slightly outside off-stump. He survived a scare, when Mayank claimed a catch at third slip. Jaffer instantly gestured that the catch had not carried. The umpires had a short consultation, before agreeing with Jaffer.

Ex-Karnataka player Ganesh Satish (29 batting, 52b) has struggled to find his feet, playing and missing outside off on several occasions.

11:50 am:  Vidarbha 91/2 (30)

11:45 am: Ganesh Satish is looking to steady the innings. If Vidarbha is to put up a good total on board, they need a Jaffer special today.

11:20 am: At the end of 24 overs, Karnataka 80/2; Jaffer is looking good. The right-hander has moved to 27 off 42 which comprises six fours.

10:50 am: Stuart Binny strikes; that ball would have kissed the stumps. Ramaswamy out leg before for 22 (44); Vidarbha 49/2 (17.5)

10:20 am: Wasim Jaffer walks in and starts off with a boundary; at the end of 11 overs, Vidarbha 29/1.

10:12 am: WICKET! Vidarbha skipper Fazal 12 (35) has been trapped leg before by Vinay Kumar. At the end of nine overs, Vidarbha 22/1.

9:45 am: After six overs, Vidarbha is 15 for no wicket. Vinay Kumar and Abhimanyi Mithun has started the proceedings for Karnataka.

9:30 am: Faiz Fazal and Sanjay Ramaswami are out in the middle and are off to a positive start.
