Ranji Trophy: Prithvi Shaw slams fifth first-class century

This is turning out to be a dream season for Prithvi Shaw. The 18-year-old batsman from Mumbai, on Friday, registered his fifth first-class century in his seventh match and 13 innings.

With another century coming his way, Shaw has the second most first-class hundreds by an Indian at this age. Only Sachin Tendulkar is ahead of him with seven centuries.

And it was riding his heroics that Mumbai fought back against Andhra. Losing two quick wickets, all Mumbai required was stability, and Shaw — maintaining his reputation — went on to steady the ship.

In his rock solid knock of 114, which came in 173 deliveries, Shaw struck 14 boundaries and a solitary six. He was finally dismissed in the 61st over by Ayyappa Bandaru.

While he scored 56 in Mumbai’s 500 Test match against Baroda, Shaw had slammed back-to-back tons in the side’s previous encounters against Tamil Nadu and Odisha.
