The third day’s play in the Hyderabad-Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy Group A match, at the Gymkhana here, was also abandoned without a ball being bowled on Monday due to wet ground conditions.

Ironically, it was a sunny day without any dark clouds; unlike the last few days. But the wet patches made the ground slushy.

However, the groundsmen were seen working hard under the supervision of curator Mukesh Goud to make it match-fit for Tuesday.

With a day left in the four-day game, the disappointment in both the camps was understandable as they were keen to brush aside the dismal start in the season openers.

All the players could do today was physical conditioning exercises and some knocking in the dry areas.

After two inspections, the umpires called off play in the afternoon stating that the ground was unfit for play.
