Delhi's middle-order survived early blows to ensure it defeated Mumbai by five wickets to lift the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy (under-23) inter-state cricket tournament on Wednesday.
Chasing a target of 238, Dinesh Mor's vital partnerships with captain Jonty Sidhu and Lalit Yadav ensured Delhi overhauled the target in the morning session of the last day's play at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy ground.
If Mumbai was to put Delhi under pressure, the home team needed early wickets. With a couple of quick wickets, Delhi stuttered.
Sairaj Patil got rid of overnight opener off the sixth ball of the morning and three overs hence, Minad Manjrekar disturbed Yash Sehrawat's woodwork. Delhi, after starting the day at 128 for two, was tottering at 133 for four. Mor then combined with Sidhu, with the captain dominating the 56-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Yadav then hit a string of fours to ensure Delhi overhauled the target without any further damage.
