The incident happened when batsman Birender Vivek Singh hit straight and Dinda attempted the catch on his follow through at the Bengal nets; he has been advised two days of rest after a CT scan.

Bengal pace spearhead Ashok Dinda was hit on the forehead while attempting a sharp caught-and-bowled chance during Bengal’s Twenty 20 practice match at Eden Gardens here on Monday.

The incident happened when batsman Birender Vivek Singh hit straight and Dinda attempted the catch on his follow through but it slipped from his hand and hit his forehead, a Bengal support staff member said.

“Dinda looked fine as he completed the over before returning back to the dressing room. As a precautionary measure, he was taken for scans. There is nothing alarming but he has been advised two days of rest,” said a CAB official.

Arun Lal, the Bengal coach for the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament, said there was no major issue with the seamer. "A scan was done. Thankfully, the results were okay. He has been advised rest. He shall be back in time, we are sure," said Lal.

Dinda, who donned India colours in 13 one-dayers and nine T20 matches, received a minor head injury while trying to field off his own bowling.

Lal and batting consultant V.V.S. Laxman oversaw the first day's practice.  "We practised from morning till evening, but the intensity did not drop during the whole day. They also played in simulated match situations where targets were constantly changed. This kept both the batting and bowling units on their toes," said Lal.

Bengal will meet Mizoram in its opening Group D match at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on February 21.

Bengal failed to make the final at home last season after finishing third in the Super League Group B.
