ICC allows one BCCI nominee to attend CEC meeting

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) joint secretary Amitabh Chaudhary, after receiving a go-ahead from the Supreme Court, attended the International Cricket Council's (ICC) Chief Executive Committee's (CEC) meeting in Dubai on Thursday.

The ICC, following a communication from BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, had updated Vikram Limaye, one of the four BCCI Committee of Administrators (CoA), as the Indian board's nominee for its Board meeting and Johri as the nominee for its CEC meeting.

On Wednesday evening, the Chairman of the CoA, Vinod Rai, informed the decision of the Surpreme Court that all three are equal (Limaye, Amitabh Chaudhary and Anirudh Chaudhry, Treasuer, BCCI) and that all three may be allowed to attend all meetings. But it is learnt that the ICC Chief Executive, David Richardson, who is the Chairman of the ICC CEC, informed the CoA chief that the formalities be followed by the BCCI nominating its representative for the ICC Board and that only one official will be allowed to attend the meetings.

It is gathered that the BCCI officials in Dubai now — Amitabh, Anirudh, Johri and M. V. Sridhar — have been told about the process to be followed for nominating an individual for the ICC Board. It’s also understood that Limaye has not arrived in Dubai for the ICC Board meeting to take place on Saturday. Hopefully, the chief of the BCCI-CoA, Rai or the BCCI CEO, Johri, will be able to make matters clear on Friday about whether it would be Limaye or someone else who would be nominated to the ICC Board.
