Junaid Khan sends obscure message to selectors after World Cup axe

Left-arm fast bowler Junaid Khan was Pakistan's hero in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017; he had picked up eight wickets in four games as his side beat arch-rival India in the final.

In 76 ODIs for Pakistan, Junaid Khan has 110 wickets under his belt.

World Cup snubs are tough. It is tougher for Junaid Khan as the pacer was part of Pakistan’s preliminary squad. His poor show in the five-match ODI series against England — which Pakistan lost 4-0 — forced the selectors to include old horses Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir, along with Asif Ali, in the 15-member final squad for the marquee event that starts on May 30 in the UK.

After being shown the door on Monday, Khan took to Twitter to express his disappointment. The left-arm pacer posted a cheeky photograph of his face with a black tape across his mouth. The caption said, “I dont want to say anything. Truth is bitter.”

 

Khan was the hero of ICC Champions Trophy 2017, where Pakistan had beaten India in the final to clinch the title. The 29-year-old had picked up eight wickets in four games at an average of 19.37.

Faheem Ashraf and Abid Ali have been excluded from the squad as well.

In two ODIs against England, Khan returned expensive — 1/57 in Bristol and 1/85 in Nottingham.

However Khan, later, took the tweet down.
