Steve Smith's 100 came close on the heels of his match-winning 73 against the West Indies in an unofficial warm-up fixture earlier.

Steve Smith continued his run glut after return to Australia colours with a hundred against England in the warm-up match at The Rose Bowl in Southampton on Saturday.

Smith, batting on 93, hammered Ben Stokes for a maximum to get to 99 before a single got him to the three-figure mark.

Smith struck eight boundaries during his nearly run-a-ball knock. This came close on the heels of his match-winning 73 against the West Indies in an unofficial warm-up fixture earlier.

Former captain Smith and his deputy David Warner were handed a one-year ban by Cricket Australia for their role in ball tampering during the third Test against South Africa at Cape Town in March last year. The duo played in the Indian Premier League after their ban period ended on March 29.
