England smashes 25 sixes, breaks World Cup record

Eoin Morgan struck a record 17 sixes during his whirlwind knock.

Among the slew of records that tumbled during the World Cup 2019 fixture between England and Afghanistan in Manchester, was the record for maximum sixes hit by a team in a World Cup innings.

The host side, riding on skipper Eoin Morgan's record-breaking 17 maximums, racked up 25 to better West Indies' record of 19 sixes versus Zimbabwe during the 2015 World Cup. Bairstow (3), Root (1) and Moeen Aoli (4) were the other contributors.

 South Africa is a close third with 18 (2007) and India is joint-third with the same number of sixes coming in the same edition (2007).
