Matt Henry struck in the first over, trapping Lahiru Thirimanne off the second ball of the innings on a green top at the Sophia Gardens. He then dismissed Kusal Perera, who was looking dangerous, and Kusal Mendis off the next ball to reduce Sri Lanka to 46-3 in the ninth over. ▲ Lockie Ferguson alongside Colin de Grandhomme and Jimmy Neesham made sure Sri Lanka was pushed to the backfoot, picking wickets at regular intervals. ▲ Thisara Perera's cameo (27 off 23 balls) helped forge a 52-run partnership with captain Dimuth Karunaratne for the seventh wicket. But the other Lankan batsmen fell cheaply. ▲ Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratne was the lone man standing among the rubble. He carried the bat with an unbeaten 52 as Sri Lanka was bundled out for 137 - the lowest ODI total at the venue. ▲ New Zealand opener Martin Guptill smashed an unbeaten 73 off 51 balls (4x8, 6x2) in a comfortable chase for New Zealand. ▲ Colin Munro (right) scored 58 off 47 balls (6x4, 1x6) as New Zealand chased down the target with 33.5 overs to spare without losing a wicket. ▲
