New Zealand began the innings in a nervy fashion scoring just one run from the first 21 balls. Jasprit Bumrah struck in the fourth over removing Martin Guptill through a brilliant slip catch from Virat Kohli. ▲

Opener Henry Nicholls was the next to go after being foxed by Ravindra Jadeja, leaving the Black Caps stuttering at 69-2 in the 19th over. ▲

Skipper Kane Williamson, with Ross Taylor, set out to rebuild the innings and reached his half-century in the proces. However, he was unable to convert it into a big score as Yuzvendra Chahal's turning delivery got an outside edge to Jadeja at short-thirdman. ▲

Ross Taylor tried to inject some momentum late into the innings as he reached his fiftieth ODI fifty with a six off Chahal in the 44th over. However, the wickets of James Neesham, Colin de Grandhomme and a rain interruption halted a late flourish. ▲

Rain stopped play in the 47th over, with New Zealand on 211 for five. ▲

Despite the tireless efforts of the ground staff to drain water off the damp outfield, heavy showers for more than two hours prevented any further play on Tuesday, forcing the match into the reserve day on Wednesday. ▲
