Mohammed Shami has warned England's Jonny Bairstow that India's attack will target his fractured finger if he plays in the fourth Test.

Bairstow is hopeful of being involved at the Ageas Bowl despite suffering an injury while keeping wicket in India's second innings at Trent Bridge.

Even if he is unable to assume his role behind the stumps, there remains the possibility Bairstow could be used as a specialist batsman by England.

But India seamer Shami insists his side will look to try and exploit any weakness the Yorkshireman may have as a result of his injury.

"Obviously when you see that a batsman has a weakness and he feels uncomfortable in some way, you'd prefer to work on that aspect," Shami told a press conference.

"It's not just me, any fast bowler will want to target his weak zone.

"So we will definitely look at that."
