Australian pacer Mithcell Starc praised Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane’s unbeaten hundred but at the same time rued the dropped catches by his team that allowed India to finish day two with an 82-run lead.
“It was a good knock and he steadied the ship when they were behind our score. He took his chances and we probably could have got him three or four times before he got his hundred. But he has run his luck there and scored a good hundred,” said the left-arm pacer.
Starc added: “It was not our best day but not our worst. We created a few chances but could not hang on to those half-chances. There was some good stuff from us but did not capitalise on the chances we created to finish in a better position.”

Despite what was a tough day for the home team, the 30-year-old had something to cheer for after he got his 250th wicket when he removed Rishabh Pant. But the pacer insisted that it was not a time for reflection and preferred to focus on the third day’s play.
“I don’t think I have been one for personal milestones. We have got five more wickets to take in the first innings. It is a nice one to have, to reflect on, probably once I am done with cricket. But we have got 15 wickets to take in this Test match to get ourselves in a position to win. So for me, it is come-back tomorrow and try and take another five,” said Starc.
