The stadium looks all set to host the final game.

TNCA officials are doing everything possible to ensure that the ground is in perfect condition for the fifth and final Test of the India-England series, starting on Friday.

Today, the ground staff used coal to take the moisture out of the pitch. "We used coal when it was cloudy in the morning, but now that the sun is out, the pitch will dry itself" said one of the groundsman.

The outfield too looked to be in a good shape, and with no more rains expected, the ground and the pitch should be in pristine condition for the game.

Earlier, Cyclone Vardah had cast shadows over the game, Monday's storm had caused some damage to the stadium and the outfield also was wet in patches. Net sessions of both the teams were cancelled on Wednesday.

TNCA Secretary, Kashi Vishwanathan had said “There is a lot of work to be done, but we are taking it up on a war footing. We are confident the match will start on time.”

The staff had indeed done a commendable job to prepare the ground.
