IND vs SA: Virat Kohli penalised for poor on-field behaviour

The Indian captain was found to have violated Article 2.1.1. that relates to conduct that is "contrary to the spirit of the game."

Indian captain Virat Kohli has received one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct and has been fined 25 per cent his match fee.

Kohli was found to have violated Article 2.1.1. that relates to conduct that is "contrary to the spirit of the game."

The incident in question happened on Monday, the Day Three of the Test, when Kohli threw the ball down in anger after repeatedly complaining to umpire Michael Gough about the ball being affected by a damp outfield following a rain delay.

Kohli pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by Match Referee Chris Broad.
