India captain Virat Kohli heaped praise on Navdeep Saini after the Delhi seamer's three-wicket haul on debut helped India to a four-wicket win over the West Indies on Saturday.

"He (Saini) is from Delhi, he has come a long way. He plays the IPL as well, and had a great season," Kohli said after the match. "He is a raw talent; there are hardly any bowlers who can bowl 150 clicks. He is someone who can build a name for himself and he is hungry as well. Hopefully he builds on from here."

It was far from a walk in the park for India, however, its batting depth came through on a two-paced wicket and Kohli reserved praise for his batsmen. "We would've liked to chase it four down, but we wanted to take risks and keep the scoreboard moving.

"As the ball got older, strike rotation became key. It's just about putting in solid performance while ensuring the guys who play contribute in some way or the other," he said.

Commenting on his team's overall performance, Kohli noted, " Our bowling and fielding were right up there. The pitch wasn't great. With the rain around, you couldn't do much, I guess. They did well to start the game on time. The bowlers were on top throughout."
