The Indian women will play three ICC Women’s Championship matches in Sri Lanka next month.

The Indian women’s cricket team could travel to Sri Lanka for the three ICC Women’s Championship matches in September with an interim coach.

With the Supreme Court stating that the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has to be involved while appointing a head coach for national teams, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) could halt the selection process for the role of the women's head coach at the moment.

Ramesh Powar — who was the interim coach, supervising a 12-day camp in Bengaluru last month — is likely to continue.

On Friday, the BCCI interviewed 20 candidates for the head coach job — a position lying vacant after Tushar Arothe’s exit last month. The interview panel, comprising Diana Edulji, Syed Saba Karim and Rahul Johri, has shortlisted six candidates — Powar, Sunil Joshi, Mamatha Maben, Atul Bedade, Sanath Kumar and Rajkumar Sharma for the post.
