No World T20 in 2018, next edition in 2020

The delay is due to the busy schedule of the top member nations who will be occupied with their respective bilateral commitments next year.

The last World T20 was won by West Indies which beat England in a thrilling summit clash at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The seventh edition of the ICC T20 World Cup, which was supposed to be held in 2018, has been scrapped and will be held in 2020. "We had a discussion to have additional tournament in 2018 but we have decided to stick to the calendar,” according to media in-charge of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The venue of the World T20 in 2020 is, however, yet to be decided. The previous World T20s were held in South Africa (2007), England (2009), West Indies (2010), Sri Lanka (2012), Bangladesh (2014) and India (2016).

The Indian team will be travelling overseas for the better part of next year starting with South Africa tour, followed by away series against England and Australia respectively.The next Champions Trophy in 2021 is set to be played in India.
