Tamim: We need to give our best to beat India
The 26-year-old left-hander sought to offer his good form which he showed in his recent sting with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, when he opens the Bangladesh batting with Soumya Sarkar.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal will have to play a big role as an opener when his team takes on the might of India in the final. The 26-year-old left-hander sought to offer his good form which he showed in his recent sting with Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League, when he opens the Bangladesh batting with Soumya Sarkar.
“We need to ascertain excellence in all the three departments if we look to do well against an opposition like India. India is ahead in overall skills and that was evident in the way they made a successful turnaround from a very weak position in the first league match against us. We have to ensure that we make the least of mistakes,” Tamim said.
“I cannot just rest on the past performances. The final is a new match and we will start from zero. I will have to play a good innings to ensure the team gets a good start,” Tamim, who replaced an injured Mustafizur Rahman ahead of the team’s last league match, said. When asked how his team plans to tackle a strong opposition like India, Tamim said his team will look to negate that by giving its best on the field. “It is not about how strong the opposition is. It is more about important about giving our best effort. If we do that we can beat any opposition on a given day,” Tamim says.
“Our team’s rise is highlighted by our collective effort. We all contribute as players in ensuring the team’s success and there are no individuals who are bigger than the team,” Tamim says when asked to pick the key names in the team.
Tamim says his good performance in the PSL will give him the confidence to go for more runs. “The confidence gets boosted if you consistently score good runs. I gave my best in PSL and that was rewarded and I look to carry that form ahead here in the final,”
