IPL 2019: Prabhsimran Singh makes IPL debut for Kings XI Punjab

Young dashing wicket-keeper batsman Prabhsimran Singh made his IPL debut for Kings XI Punjab and will play his maiden match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Hailing from Punjab, the 18-year old was picked up by Punjab for a whooping Rs 4.80 crores in the IPL auctions.
After an intense three-way bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore, Mumbai Indians and Punjab, it was ultimately the team from the North who roped in the young talent.

In June this year, Singh hammered the Amritsar bowlers all over the park during his 301-ball 298 - studded with 29 boundaries and 13 sixes - in the semifinal of the Punjab U-23 Inter-District cricket tournament.
Four months later, Prabhsimran led India U-19 to Asia Cup glory. Having bagged an IPL contract, Singh was waiting in the wings and has finally got an opportunity to prove his talent in a crunch game against Hyderabad.
Skipper R. Ashwin said that Singh is an 'excited' talent and that it is the right time to hand him a debut.

"Prabhsimran Singh makes his debut and is a fine talent from U19s and we hope he can express himself," Ashwin said at the toss.
Former India wicket-keeper Kiran More was highly impressed with Singh's talent during his stay at the National Cricket Academy.
"When you’re looking at a future it is great, he is just 17, he has got to work on his wicket-keeping, but as a batsman he is great, brilliant player, I would say right hand Rishabh Pant. He played at an emerging trophy in Sri Lanka, he got a few sixes, but he is a quality player with potential," More had said.
