Ashish Nehra's surgery took place on Tuesday night.

Veteran India speedster Ashish Nehra successfully underwent a right-knee surgery in a London hospital to treat his high-grade tendon >injury sustained while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad during the Indian Premier League earlier this month. The 37-year-old was India’s best bowler during the ICC World T20 where he got five wickets in five games at a miserly economy rate of 5.94 runs per over. He was named in the ‘Team of the Tournament’.

Nehra sustained the injury during the match against Kings XI Punjab on May 15, as he aborted his run-up and was seen in considerable pain. The BCCI had communicated that Nehra was advised to consult Dr Andrew Williams, an orthopaedic specialist in London. The surgery took place on Tuesday night, according to ESPNcricinfo .

Nehra also had a decent IPL for Sunrisers with 9 wickets from 8 games at an economy rate of less than 8 runs per over. It is expected that Nehra, if he decides to continue playing, will take around six months for complete recovery as well as rehabilitation programme.

Nehra’s name has been doing the rounds for quite some time as the bowling coach of the senior team as he shares a fantastic rapport with current team players.
