Mumbai Indians' new recruit Beuran Hendricks – Alzarri Joseph’s replacement – is keen to learn a thing or two from Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah in the ongoing IPL 2019.

The 28-year-old left-arm pacer landed in India on Wednesday, ahead of MI’s clash against Chennai Super Kings at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.

The South African is known to be a T20 specialist and he is coming on the back of a strong performance against Pakistan. He returned with six wickets in three games, including a 4/14, in the T20I series that the Proteas won [2-1] in February.

“This is a valuable opportunity to play for MI in the IPL. I have just arrived, I can’t really indulge in the planning. I have to fit into the system. There will be a big push to get to the playoffs,” he told reporters on Thursday.

Hendricks was part of Kings XI Punjab in 2014-15.

Due to the CSA T20 assignment back home for the Lions, Hendricks did not get to follow IPL regularly but he clearly has set goals. “It is said that it is quite hard to come back into the IPL once you have been there and gone out, but I see it as a chance and I want to make full use of it.

“Zaheer Khan (Director of Cricket Operations, MI), bowling coach Shane Bond and fast bowlers Bumrah and Malinga have been successful for their national teams. It is for me to come in and ask as many questions as I can," he said.
