IPL 2019 Final: Captain Rohit Sharma eyes record fourth title

The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians could create history on Sunday, by bagging a record fourth title, if it beats the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2019 final in Hyderabad.

Rohit can take confidence out of the fact that Mumbai has won two finals against CSK in 2013 and 2015.

Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma has led the side to three IPL finals (2013, 2015 and 2017) winning it each time to emerge as the most successful skipper in the franchise's history.

Mumbai, so far, has qualified for four IPL finals since the inception of the tournament in 2008. The Rohit-led side could create history on Sunday, by bagging a record fourth title, if it beats the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2019 final in Hyderabad.

Rohit can take confidence out of the fact that Mumbai has won two finals against CSK in 2013 and 2015. He has been in good form in the lead up to the final, scoring 390 runs in 14 matches at a strike-rate of 129.56 including two fifties.

However, the start to this year's IPL was anything but promising for Rohit who, less than a week before the selection of India’s World Cup squad, hurt his right hamstring on the eve of Mumbai Indians’ IPL clash against Kings XI Punjab.

He appeared to have pulled his muscle while training in the outfield at the Wankhede Stadium. When the ‘Hitman’ went down writhing in pain, team physiotherapist Nitin Patel rushed to tend to him.

After being back on his feet in a while, Rohit hobbled his way back to the change room and did not return for the remaining session.

However, Rohit's return to full fitness later in the season has augured well for Mumbai which looks primed to give Chennai a tough fight on Sunday.
