When Prasidh Krishna was called up to travel to Kolkata, the Karnataka pacer knew that he was being called to bowl at the nets for Kolkata Knight Riders.

Coming from a good domestic season, Prasidh was able to impress the team management. And the lady luck finally smiled on him as he was signed in by the Kolkata franchise on April 14, after its young recruit, Kamlesh Nagarkoti was ruled out following a freak injury.

Even then, the Karnataka pacer had to warm the bench for nearly four weeks for a chance. Just when it looked as if he will not be handed a game, the Knight Riders unleashed its young pacer against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

However, Prasidh, who scalped 17 wickets for Karnataka in Vijay Hazare Trophy, got lucky as Shivam Mavi was injured. “Mavi has injured his finger, so Prasidh Krishna comes in,” Knight Riders captain Dinesh Karthik said at the toss.

After days of wait, Prasidh finally had a Sunday to remember in this edition of the IPL.
