The 36-year-old, playing his 300th match, remained unbeaten on 49 raising his tally of not outs to 73 — the most by any player in the history of ODI cricket.
He was tied with Shaun Pollock and Chaminda Vaas, who have remained unbeaten on 72 occasions. Michael Bevan, the former Australian southpaw and one of the best finishers from the ’90s, stands on 67.
Former Sri Lanka spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan has 63 not outs under his belt; Chris Harris (New Zealand) is on 62.
Dhoni helped India post a mammoth total of 375 which included a century-stand with Manish Pandey (50 not out) for the sixth wicket. Earlier, skipper Virat Kohli set the stage hammering a 96-ball 131 — his 29th ODI ton.
