Southee eager for New Zealand improvement

New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has said his team was "always looking for improvement", ahead of its third One-Day International against Bangladesh scheduled for Saturday.

New Zealand paceman Tim Southee still wants to see more from his team despite sealing its One-Day International (ODI) series against Bangladesh. A > 67-run win in Nelson on Thursday saw the Black Caps take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

New Zealand was beaten 3-0 in Australia earlier this month, but it welcomes its trans-Tasman rivals for three ODIs next year.

Southee is looking forward to seeing improvement from his team ahead of that series in January and February. "There's still a bit of cricket to be played before then and you're never satisfied with how you're going so I think we're always looking to improve," he said.

"Obviously different grounds we're going to be playing on again so I think the guys are a lot more comfortable in playing the conditions we know and have had a lot of success in over the last number of years."

The host appeared to be in some trouble in the second ODI, Bangladesh cruising at 105 for 1 in its chase of 252. But a middle-order collapse, started by a run-out, saw New Zealand close out its victory. "We know we need to keep taking wickets," Southee said ahead of the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday.

"We know [they were] sitting at 100 for 1, probably in the box seat, and then the run-out was a massive turning point for us. Then, we were able to keep attacking and keep taking wickets at regular intervals, which we know works for us in one-day cricket."
