Abu Dhabi Cricket CEO Matt Boucher feels the Zayed Cricket Stadium will offer more space and diversity to the league.

As the T10 league moves to Abu Dhabi this season, the organisers are hoping to get some Indian cricketers on board.

While former India international Zaheer Khan has already confirmed his participation in the league — which begins on November 14 — Matt Boucher, the CEO of Abu Dhabi Cricket, believes that the eight franchises will aim to rope in some more Indians.

“The eight teams that are involved, select their players — the icons, the catchment players who go into a draw — and there’s an auction on October 15. I am personally very hopeful that the teams are targeting some Indian players. It’s brilliant for the game, it’s brilliant for Abu Dhabi and the fans in general,” Boucher told Sportstar at an event on Monday.

After hosting the first two seasons in Sharjah, the Abu Dhabi T10 League will be held at the Zayed Cricket Stadium this time around. “Sharjah is a downtown venue with limited space, whereas the Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi has a million square kilometre space. So we obviously have a lot of space to play with,” Boucher said.

“Moving forward, we will develop some extra-curricular activities for families of spectators where they can come over, watch some cricket, go to the fan park, see some apparel stores. It will be a much more diverse product in Abu Dhabi,” the CEO said.

The league will be telecast live on Sony Pictures Sports Network .
