Vijay Hazare Trophy: Abhimanyu, Ishan to miss first two games for Bengal

Abhimanyu Easwaran and Ishan Porel will be missing the first two games as they will be representing the Board President’s XI against the touring South Africa side. In Easwaran’s absence, Sudip Chatterjee will lead Bengal.

Abhimanyu Easwaran scored a century in the final of the Duleep Trophy, in Bengaluru a couple of weeks ago.

Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead the Bengal team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy group matches to be played in Jaipur from September 24 to October 16.

Bengal has been clubbed with Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Railways, Bihar and Services in Group C.

The selectors also took a bold decision by including India U-19 cricketer, Karan Lal, who was part of the Asia Cup-winning side.

Another youngster, Prayas Ray Barman, who was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL, has also made it to the 17-member squad.

However, Easwaran and pacer Ishan Porel will be missing the first two games as they will be representing the Board President’s XI against the touring South Africa side. In Easwaran’s absence, Sudip Chatterjee will lead the side.
